Automatic Green up

Postby shakav1 » Sun Apr 16, 2017 8:53 pm

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been asked before I cant seem to find anything on it. I have a question in relation to backing in running. Is it possible to automatically set a price to green up at rather than a tick offset. So for example I back a horse at 1.8 i want to automatically green up at 1.09 every time. I have been using the offset but that can vary as obviously 60 ticks from 1.8 is 1.2 but 60 ticks from say 3.25 is 2.4 which isn't that big of a price move. Is that possible or do you need to create rules? I'm relatively new to using Gruss software had been using other software for the last year or so.

Are you doing it manually or automated thru excel? If doing it manually just set up a custom column as that will let you set all the offset prices etc

I'm just doing it manually, so basically when I back a horse I want the software to automatically put up a lay (to green up) at the same price everytime. And also want it to do the same when placing a lay bet, to green up at certain price also. Can you tell me how exactly I do this. Much appreciated

Here's the page to show how to set up a custom column, any problems get back to us but it is quite explanatory so you shouldn't have any problems. Just change the tick offset to odds rather than ticks and put in 1.09 and tick the auto level. Don't forget to enable at the bottom too, you'll them have a new column added to place bets with. You can add more than one i have a few.

60 ticks from 3.25 isn't 2.4, it is 1.95.

What is the criteria you are trying to use? Is it always 60 ticks, is there any criteria as to what horse gets Backed first?

I am trying to use one of the sample spreadsheets GreenUp_OpposingOdds.xls

Without having it logged to any markets, I am amending values (i.e. profit or odds or whatever) manually to see how the columns Y to AC change or alter but nothing, nothing happens at all what simple thing have I failed to do ?? to allow me to do some testing with this excel sheet ?? - Thanks in advance

I haven't seen the sheet myself but remember the calculations are kicked off by the refreshes from BA triggering a worksheet change or calculate. You probably just need to go to the macros and see which one needs triggering manually to do the calculations

Sorry of course it is 1.95!! Basically I'm backing horses in running who's prices I expect to collapse fairly instantly after I back them that's why I'm saying 60 ticks. I just want the software to either a) automatically green up at x amount of ticks. Or b) lay for stake automatically at selected price. I know you can set a price to green up but that price is fixed whereas I want to select how many ticks myself. I hope that makes sense

Set the tick off set to x with fixed level profit and it will green up automatically (once the offset has been matched) or use a formula to trigger the lay

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
