Postby BENNY97 » Tue Feb 07, 2017 7:17 pm

Hi Gary ,i had my betfair account compromised last week by some f#ckwit who blew £300. on a silly arcade game which i've never even looked at before, never mind played , betfair have give me a completely new account ,but i was told by betfair i had to set up the new account with a different email address which i have done, but i am still paying for gruss subscription with my old email address which is registered with paypal , what do i have to do to change my gruss subscription to work with my new betfair account , betfair have kindly refunded the money to me which was used and i now have two step enabled ,in fact i have enabled two step authentication on everything i use !

I would be very interested to know broadly how the account was hacked. Was it at BENNY97 end or betfairs or somewhere else?
best regards - Paul

Hi ,my account was compromised from the betfair website i presume ,as the person who did the hacking used my money on an arcade game , i have not got a clue how they managed it , as i keep my password secure , but i've been told , there's hacking programs around that can hack any password that uses proper words and names etc. and the best way to combat it apart from using two step authentication , is to make a password and substitute random letters with symbols like # or @ for instance and numbers, the person who compromised my account was somewhere in slough based on there ip address which is 300 miles + from me, it was also a bt internet ip ,so if i can find where they're based ,i'd have thought betfair would have but who knows?!
I think it was or a kid or just a moron ! as they just gambled my money away and did'nt get anything out of it

Moron I suspect would be correct. Maybe they were trialling out a system to beat the arcade game and used your money to do it, just a thought. but then again maybe I am giving them too much credit - best regards Paul

Yes ,wasn't much of a trial ,six fifty pound bets on a video slot game called Top cat  , maybe my betfair account had been entered into the best hacker of the year competition.
People, do and say strange things online these days to boost their fragile ego's

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
