AUS Greyhound markets - Where are they?

Postby StuT » Fri May 06, 2016 11:41 am

Hi all,

Lately when I've opened BA at just after midnight, the Australian Greyhound races are not listed in the Market List.
Even when I refresh later they still don't appear.

Why would this be, I'm sure there are plenty of AUS Greyhounds meetings and I'm sure they used to be available on Betfair.

Does anyone know what's happened to them?

Thanks.

They definitely still exist! Betfair tend to put them up gradually in the early hours (UK time). Worth noting that on Saturdays Aussie dogs don't start until around 8am UK time.

Thanks for you response Dai,

So how can I get Gruss to automatically refresh both Betfair and Gruss to load in the added AUS Greyhounds in the early hours of the morning?

I see that setting Q2 to -3.13 will load AUS Greyhounds into my Quick Pick List, but will this action also refresh the Betfair markets beforehand.

Hi,

Yes -3.13 does reload the Betfair Markets first before populating the Quick Pick List.

Please note that you can only use it every 5 mins, i.e. if you use the trigger again within a 5 min period then it wouldn't reload the Betfair Markets again, this is to prevent you from hammering the Betfair server with market refresh requests.

Regards,
Mark

The AUS Greyhounds won't load today, and I live in AUS, so I know they're running and Betfair is up. Why would this be and yes I've refreshed it a number of times after the 5 min wait!

The Aus markets are the bane of my botting life, I must miss at least 2 or 3 days a month when the markets haven't loaded and because the way BA handles them, it means it completely wipes out any existing markets if nothing is retreived. The AUS greyhounds are loaded so late you have little option other than to query new markets every 2 or 3 hours :(

Plus it would be a lot better if gruss only requested the markets we wanted rather than every single market available on Betfair. The API lets you querying whatever sport you want, my own stuff only requests say the horses if that's all it needs and they come down straight away cos the data size is little compared to every market going. It'd be good if Gruss could be coded to do the same and maybe only request the markets in the favourites list or QPL when using the excel market refresh triggers.

Or failing that, the option to have new markets added rather than the old ones completely wiped just because the api hasn't responded, that way I'd still be botting the markets loaded earlier rather than miss the day.

Hi,

You can use the favourites icon (yellow star) next to the Refresh button above the Market Tree to set just the ones that want to load each time.
It does speed up the market loading if you only have a few sports selected.
So click on it and untick "All sports" and then untick all those sports that you are not interested in.
Click on the Refresh button and the Market Tree will only contain your favourite sports.

Mark

Thanks for the reply Mark, I've already whittled down my favourites to a few marets, I'll try excluding soccer too as I'd imagine that's where the bulk of the market s maybe too.

Would be good if we had the option to add new markets rather than completely replace the QPL on refreshes though as the problem with the AUS servers has been going on for years and seems there's no solution that'll be in place anytime soon.

Right big question here:

In order to make sure I have the latest AUS Greyhound races loaded into my Quick Pick List for processing during the early hours of the morning, would the following work:

1. In the BA menu, set Auto Select Markets to 'Load Next Race on Actual Off of Preceding Race'
2. Then every hour use a macro to reload the QPL with AUS Greyhound (Q2 = -3.13) followed by a select of the First Market (Q2 = -5)

Would this action pass through all the markets in the QPL that have already raced and land on the market that is the next race to start.

Thanks in advance.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
