ping/round trip/latency

Postby tobyanjaq » Sat Sep 12, 2015 7:32 pm

Hi could anyone confirm ( or not ) my suspicions .I have been tick trading on the ladder ( £ 2 ) as I am in cautious learning phase and notice the mere £ 2 seems to be in the que a long time as money comes and goes and sometimes small parts ( pennies ) out of this sum are matched before the full amount is matched. Am I right in thinking that this is more than likely due to a not so reliable broadband connection ,I feel that any larger amounts would be an all day job to be matched. I'm currently waiting for fibre broadband another 10 days .Also the markets are decent liquidity and should swallow this amount no problem and not in small bits . Gruss seems to be working ok no probs logging on loading up etc. Thanks for any comments .

A poor internet connection wouldn't affect how the bet was matched once it had reached the market. Seems more likely it's down to cross matching or maybe other bots nibbling the bet. Are the bets placed a while before the off time as usually near the off you shouldn't have any problem having that £2 bet matched in one go especially as the liquidity flows quickly near the off especially for lower priced stuff, outsiders on certain markets can still take a while to get fully matched though just cos few either want to play them or put high volumes thru for little returns.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
