Disappearing BSPs

Postby Reged » Thu May 28, 2015 4:30 pm

I use Gruss in part to collect BSPs on all races. For the last coule of days however these have been comping up as almost all 0s on many races. When I have a problem I would normally use the Timeform results as delayed backup but also for the last couple of days it has been publishing no BSPs at all until overnight, which means I am right royally screwed. Timeform told me it was 1. a Betfair problem and 2. "there may have been a delay in the feed from the Data Warehouse. " Any idea what's going on and how it can be fixed? I've just renewed my annual subs but not getting my moneysworth at the moment.

Final BSP's on Greyhounds hasn't worked since we switched to the new API but I've not seen any problems with the Horses

Seems to happen when the market is closed ...

Just happened to me again on the 18.45. I have screen grabs, not sure how to post them

Happening on every race now ... as soon as it goes to Market closed BSPs go to 0. Guess I could write another excel routine to take the prices when the market is suspended, but that'll be compicated, because markets are often suspended for withdrawals etc before the off, and the Not In Play/In Play marker is unreliable ie sometimes stays Not In Play after the off. A real all-round pain TBH.

The data disappears once the market is settled, I'm guessing that's why you see all the data go to 0. Not much Gruss can do about that especially now Betfair seem to settle quite quick after the result is known.

But why is this suddenly happening? Up until two days ago it was fine.

ie, to clarify, the data stayed in place after the market closed or was settled for as long as you kept the page on the screen. Something has happened in the last couple of days that also seems to have caught Timeform out

I've always seen it disappear as soon as the market is settled although I must admit I don't stay on the page after it's finished much. I've done bits with my own API apps and don't remember them transmitting any price data once a markets closed. MAybe they're just closing markets a lot quicker these days.

All the BSP data is in the Betfair data files available the next day in one download and they'll be correct as you won't have to worry about late NR's corrupting your data.

If you need them beforehand just grab them once the market shows as In Play as they'll then be reconciled, can't say I've ever had a problem with the In Play/Not In Play indicator

Well I am very happy for you CS, but the In Play problem it happens to me quite regularly and is thus unreliable. The only real reason I fork out for Gruss is to have the numbers immediately available for various reasons. and because Timeform is not 100% reliable at the best of times. I know all about the BF datafiles and use them too, but too late for my most pressing needs. From what you say it seems Gruss does different things for different people, as the BSPs have ALWAYS remained on my pages into the night. Just wish I had the coding skills to plug directly into Betfair.

Finally an update from Betfair ... only a couple of days late!

Unfortunately, there's been a technical issue with updating the BSP on Timeform. This is being investigated and we'll have an update once we've heard back from our technical team. Apologies about this.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
