Trigger for BSP offset

Postby CAPTAIN » Thu Apr 30, 2015 3:12 pm

I’m on a trial subscription for BA.
I have a problem trying to test getting BA to trigger a BSP lay bet in excel.
I’m using BACK-SL15-S-SPC as the trigger.
I’ve just tried this on a 2.48 initial bet (using SL15 to try and make sure the lay is not triggered before the off). The initial back of £10 was taken, the BSP didn’t get activated but a lay bet of 2.88 was triggered in running.
Does the combination of SL and SPC not work? I can’t see how Betfair gets the information for a lay bet at BSP.

Hi,

The SL15-S part of the modifier is to set a sliding Stop Loss attached to the initial back bet which will trigger a lay bet if the odds increase by 15 ticks.
The SPC is a bet persistence modifier that will match the back bet at SP if it is still unmatched at the off.

I'm not quite sure what you wanting to achieve, can you clarify.

Mark

Thanks Mark

I’m trying to ensure that my matched Back bet is covered by a sliding stop loss Lay before the race goes in play, using excel. So SL15-S covers this.

If this trigger doesn’t implement (because the odds don’t move out far enough) I want to trigger a Betfair SP Lay at the off. The way I read page 122 of the user guide, SPC looks like this would do that.

I’m impressed if you can do this, but in the example I gave I ended up with an “ordinary” lay in play

Hi,

The SPC will keep the offset lay bet in play by converting it to SP odds at the off if it is unmatched prior to in play, but in the case of a Stop Loss bet it would need to have been triggered before in play and still be unmatched at the off.
If it has not been triggered before in play then it will carry forward to in play and trigger normally which is what I believe you have seen.
There isn't a trigger modifier to force the Stop Loss to fire at SP if it hasn't already fired.
In this scenario, it would be better for you to not use Stop Loss and handle the offset lay bet yourself.

Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
