Automating quick pick list

Postby Roadhouse » Tue Mar 31, 2015 1:43 pm

Hi can anyone help me with this I have 8 spreadsheets attached to 8 tabs for e.g. on a saturday there 8 horse race meetings I would like to load one meeting into each spreadsheet by automating the process using code.

I know you can load load up meeting onto seperate tabs using gruss preferences but I want to leave my spreadsheets attached and make the whole process is automated. Does anyone have ideas using VBA or the COM how I could do this?

you mean without closing excel or ba at all?
you can do it if you close them once per day

Hi Alrodopial, thanks for replying. Yes I dont want to close BA or excel. I know using Garys code you can put all the UK meetings in the quickpick list at midnight. I want each meeting in a seperate spreadsheet so if there was 3 meetings today

Spreadsheet 1 would have kempton
Spreasheet 2 would have chelmsford
Spreadsheet 3 would have taunton

and the other spreadsheets quickpick list would be empty but attached to the tabs. Is there a way to automate this?

The logic is this:
in the first tad (or last) you have all the races of the day that they update at midnight - there is a trigger that updates the quick pick list i think -
you roll over all the races (-1 in Q2) and extract them in excel along with their ids - i think there is a trigger that enables the first race in the quickpick list -
then if there is a trigger that loads a market in the quick pick list you are almost done
something like the "goto: id"
using macros that will run at midnight group the races ( kempton etc) and using their ids load them in the respective tab from their respective excel sheet
- if there is such a trigger -
You got the idea I think

Hi alrodopial I think I understand I would load the quick pick list at midnight, use the trigger -1 to loop through all the races and collect the event ids, then group them together for e.g. kempton all ids then use the trigger for go to id

take a look at the help guide
there is the -3 trigger (in Q2) that reloads the quickpick list as it is in the preferences
So if you have in preferences venues to be loaded in diff tabs it should do the trick I think
also -4.x triggers will suit you
what is the trigger that refreshes the markets? - used at midnight -

Hi alrodopial, there is no trigger for reloading the quickpick list at midnight I was just going to use Gary's example spreadsheet that loads the next days racing at 12.00. It's under sample excel sheets in the forum

Garry I don't get it,
the ie -3 trigger just reloads the quickpick list into the tab ( i guess the list that is already in ba's memory)
how is this list updated with the new day's races?

Hi,

If the Market Tree has not been refreshed in the last 15 minutes then the -3 trigger first refreshes the tree before reloading the Quick Pick List.
So you do get the new markets that Betfair have made available.

Just change the "-3" with "-4" in the code -sheet1- autoreloadouckpicklist excel sheet
Garry already created the trigger you want
link tab1 to sheet1 , tab2 to sheet2 etc
link at least 10 tabs

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
