Login failed

Postby Joe68 » Wed Sep 10, 2014 1:25 am

I am getting intermittent problems when logging on.

Yesterday, I attempted to logon with BA version 1.1.0.66x84 Beta from a laptop
The result was a failure to log in, with a lot of SOAP type error messages as follows;
"System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out at
System.WebServices.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest.request)
at
System.WebServices.Protocols.HttpWebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest.request)
at System.WebServices.Protocols..SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(StringmethodName, Object[], parameters)
at Betting_Assistant.betfair.BFGlobalService.login(LonginReq request) in C:\Betting Assistant mBeta 1_1_0_66x68\Betfair Trading API Beta\Web References\betfair\Reference.vb:line 197
at Betting Assistant.Main.doLogon(Boolean loginAuto, String autoUserID, String autoPassword) in C:Betting Assistant Beta 1_1_0_66x68\Betfair Traiding API Beta\Main.vb:line2343"

However, I was able to then log onto the BF website on that laptop without issue.
Logged off the website
I downloaded v 1.2.0.1 BA onto a desktop computer and attempted login
I receved the error "Login failed. Check your internet connection."
Logged onto website at the desktop without issue
Shut everything down, go to bed

Overnight (Aus time), I waited and was able to log in to both my laptop and desktop this morning.
Three hours later, after a router reboot for other reasons, the connections had failed, so I rebooted each machine and attempted login.
On each machine, I am receiving the same error as they each had before.
On each machine, I am able to login to the website
I ensure that I am not logged into the website when I attempt BA login
I reboot before login attempts

I have hunted for error logs to send you, but did not find anything.

Please help.

Please help.

Login fails at least 90% of attempts, as outlined in previous post. Same methods, versions, computers. Same errors. Always able to log on to the website and log off again. Successful BA logins have occurred on both machines.

For days now, I have been unable to login and use BA when I want.

Sod's law seems to dictate that BA login only works when I'm not up for trading, just testing login. EG it worked just now on the laptop but it's many hours before I want to use it.

This is definitely your connection. The requests are timing out. The API and the website are different servers so logging into the website is not an indication that it is a software fault. Try rebooting your router, it might help.

Sorry, didn't see it first time I read your message. You have already rebooted the router. It's either your ISP or your PC causing this issue. Is your web browser going through a proxy server? Have you installed a firewall other than the Windows firewall?

Hmm. Maybe I'll keep that router reboot up my sleeve - possibly useful.

The laptop hardware and software have worked well with BA quite consistently in the past. ISP is the same, though can't comment on their infrastructure.

No Proxy server for my web browser.

AVG firewall is installed but not activated on laptop.

No third party firewall installed on desktop.

Have been able to log on today a couple of times for use.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
