Hello, I have just registered and I apologise for asking the simplest of questions, but I am stuck already !!!

Ok I have logged into betfair and set up a spreadsheet in excel which is linked to the next horse race amending the data 2 mins before the off with trigger betting enabled - I can see all the runners, their odds are constantly changing etc so it appears to be live - Trigger, Odds, Bet, Stake, Bet Ref, Bet Time are blank, so in the Trigger column do I just simply write LAY or BACK ??, then if I set up an IF statement to say put the figure 2 in the Bet column to reflect £2, I have then said if my crteria has been met (i.e. the odds have fallen to a level I am prepared to Lay on - I have set this up in column AB1) put the contents of H5 (which is the current Lay1 odds availabe) in the Odds column - Is this correct ?? - I then expected this program to then place a bet for me, but the Bet Ref just returns an ERROR message earlier today I managed to get BET between 1 and 60 or something, but no bets, so I am doing something wrong

I am sure all this is answered somewhere on this forum already but could someone just nudge me in the right direction to get going please

Thanks

Column R (odds) and S (stake) must contain your required stake and odds before the trigger columns is populated with BACK or LAY (or at least at the same time). Is this definitely happening? You will run in to problems if the trigger column is populated before the odds and stake columns contain valid values. It sounds like it's attempting to trigger a bet without valid values in the odds or trigger column.

Cheers Gary,

Absolutely right I was trying to Back / Lay before Odds had been entered, sorry I know you deal with far more technical issues than that but I am learning

Appreciated

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
