Can't use BA after net framework update

Postby Yorkie » Mon Mar 15, 2010 2:07 pm

This morning i did some overdue windows updates, these included service packs for .net framework. After the updates i reopened ba, which updated to the latest version, but couldn't log in. I was getting an exception message about not connecting within the specified timelimit.
In case it was a betfair issue i tried it on a different pc and that logged in fine.
I uninstalled ba and reinstalled to see if that helped and things were the same.
I've done a system restore to a point before the updates and the restore went ok but now i can't open ba at all, getting an error saying the ba launcher has a problem and has to close.
Uninstalling ba again, then installing the net framework updates, then reinstalling ba brings me back to being able to open ba again but getting the timeout connecting to the server error again.

Any ideas Gary?

Connection timeout could indicate a firewall issue. Check your firewall is not blocking Betting Assistant.exe

If the above doesn't help then you could try using the following .Net framework removal tool to completely remove the framework ready for a fresh install. You just need to remove and re-install framework 2.0.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
