Missing markets (using beta) ?

Postby Magic Murf » Mon Aug 17, 2009 10:31 am

I'm running the (I think latest) version of the beta.

Don't know if this problem is related to that, but today's first round Rogers Cup (Ladies) tennis matches don't seem to be pulling through from Betfair? Any ideas?

Are you sure they are today? Try unticking "Only load today's events" under the quick pick options in preferences then click the refresh button above the market tree.

Now that's odd in itself ... :?

If I follow your suggestion and uncheck the today only box, it indeed pulls the matches through, all with a start time of 16.00 tomorrow (which is what they normally show when they have the draw but no order of play yet).

On the Betfair Tennis stats, etc. pages, however, the same matches are clearly listed today's matches with the correct start times ...

Problem solved for now, thanks, ( :) ) but curious behaviour from the market data

Can you give me a specific market to look at? I'm not sure I am seeing the same issue as you. I can take it up with Betfair if necessary.

The issue has (of course) cleared now  .

But a specific market would be the Tetreault-Szavay game, which now shows as 18.30 today.

When I logged the question, it was showing as 16.00 not-today (i.e. it didn't pull through to today's market tree).
But on the Tennis form page on Betfair (http://form.tennis.betfair.com/tennis) the market was showing correctly.

I was thinking that they might have had the same markets set up twice (they've done that a few times by mistake), once on each day (I didn't check the odds and matched amounts, which is normally the way I spot a market exists twice) and for some reason only one of the two was pulling through.

More info:

After posting the above, I went back to BA and noticed that even though the match was described as "18.00" the Countdown was indicating that the match was due to start tomorrow at 16.00.

On Refresh, this has now reset to a Countdown which matches the actual start time.

So I assume betfair are just very late at getting these markets set up correctly ...

I think the "only load today's markets" tick box should only apply to the quick pick list or there should be an additional box for the main menu. I had to untick the box to look at the golf on Wednesday but then got Thursday's horse racing in the quick pick list which I didn't want.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
