When does MyBets sheet get updated?

Postby danjuma » Sun Jul 05, 2009 10:56 am

Gary,

If I am using a 1 sec refresh rate, and my trigger fires a bet at 13:01.
I am assuming the bet ref will appear in the 'T' column on the next refresh at 13.02.
When, will the MyBets sheet be updated with the bet ref?

I am asking because I have a trigger that fires a back bet with a tick offset for a selection.
The trigger also checks the 'A' column of the MyBets sheet to ensure that the bet ref of the back bet is in the MyBets sheet, and then also checks the 'E' column of the MyBets sheet to ensure that there is no 'U' against the selection (ie. all bets placed for the selection are matched) before clearing the 'T' column so that another bet can be placed.

The above logic makes sense to me, however, I can not understand for the life of me why sometimes a duplicate back bet (in one instance triplicate back bets) is fired for a selection even when the off set bet for the first back bet is still unmatched (has 'U' in the 'E' column of the MyBets sheet)?

Thanks
Dan

The price and bet refreshes are run independently in Betting Assistant. They are both requested at the same time, but one call can return before the other. The price refresh triggers the Excel update which updates MyBets on each refresh, but only with the latest information available. If the price refresh in BA is returned before the bets refresh then the information in MyBets will not be updated with the latest information until the next refresh. Your spreadsheet checks that the back bet appears in MyBets to prevent this being a problem. If it is the example I gave you then it also checks the net stake to make sure the offset bet has been placed. Have you removed this from the logic?

You also sent me an example on email which was inconclusive. It would be very helpful for me to see the accurate timings of these bets (the bets manager does not show the actual second they are placed only the minute). Next time it happens can you view the transaction log under the account menu and send me a screenshot of the transaction log showing the duplicate bets?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
