Oddschecker/Bestbetting excel spreadsheet

Postby doris_day » Wed Jan 04, 2012 3:34 pm

Hope you guys have all been doing well.

2011 was a horrible year for me for many reasons and I'm glad its behind me. I'm hoping for much better things this year.

Haven't been doing much gambling over the past few months since my last post but I've been doing lots of research and theoretical stuff. One avenue I'm going down will require me to gather data from either Oddschecker or Bestbetting and I wondered if anyone has a spreadsheet that works with those ? It doesn't need to be used with Gruss but rather should be able to gather all the days racing at once. There was one posted at Punterslounge but that doesn't work as Oddschecker seems to regularly change its code. I have that one and could send it to anyone if they think they can modify it. Or if someone else has an alternative that would be great.

Meanwhile. here's to a good 2012 to you all.

Something like pressing a button and gather the odds from all meetings?

I just finished something like this and If it suits you let me know and I will post it here.
I need a day to delete all the garbage in it and it will be ready.
You know vba and you will modify it to your needs.

Let me know

Did n't test it after the 'cleaning'
An interesting macro is the 'elementsOFoddschecker'
It can be useful for other sites

Hi :)

Not sure if this will apply but a while ago I was barred from Oddschecker
for acquiring too much data from their site as described here:

All I am saying is be careful?

All the best - Michael

How many tabs did you have open at the same time and for how long? (estimation)

Thanks for that 2020.

Oddschecker obviously have the same attitude to their customers as Betfair :)

To be honest I was an all day up to 70 pages or tabs open at a time dogs bettor.

Have slackened off considerably now but was also a regular scraper of the odds
on a continual(ish) basis race by race in order to "catch" the first show.

After a few emails, 3 days and almost getting to know the person who could
unblock me I was told to stop scraping but could have as many browser pages open
as I liked. They said this would not do them any harm - the continuous scraping
was to blame. I apologised, accepted blame and gave my word to do it
their way and was allowed back in. Since then no problems.

Hope this is of some use - Michael

P.S. My best guess is that as long as the data taken is not concentrated
or continual you would have no problems?

Interesting. Hopefully all your efforts proved profitable.

I'm just accessing the data one or two times a day so I doubt it'll appear on their radar.

They did indeed prove rather profitable - thanks...

Most likely they will not notice you then?

Good Luck - Michael

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
