Problem with having multiple pages open?

Postby sabrehill44 » Mon Nov 14, 2011 6:35 pm

Is there a conflict with having say 5-10 pages open at the same time with

different settings ( fill or kill, tick offset ) on each?

For example today, on one page I laid the field at 3.0 with a tick offset of

30 ticks to back, back at 5.0.

On another page I laid the field again at 3.0, but with a tick offset of 25

ticks to back back at 4.5.

Watching the markets I saw one horse get matched at lower than 3.0 but

following the race I checked the bets and saw a back bet for 5.0 had

been placed, but not the back bet at the smaller price of 4.5.

Any possible explanation for this?

I had several other pages open at the same time with different settings

on, so I'm wondering if having too many pages open and working at the

same time causes problems with bet-triggering?

The problem above affected bets of £2, but I've also noticed that quite a

few bets won't get triggered if I use £1 stakes, when previously they'd be

placed.

Is it best to stick to £2 stakes?

TIA

There aren't any conflicts between the pages that I am aware of. You might be having issues with exceeded exposure preventing bets being placed if they are triggered at the same time. This often happens when you underestimate how much exposure is required to place bets below £2. For example to place two bets for £0.50 at the same time will have an exposure of £5 at one point during the process, not £1 as you might expect. Check the transaction log under the accounts menu next time and see if any error messages in the API response column.

I had a problem today with a bot I am running in the UK race market. I had 28 different pages open linked to 28 different sheets within the same Excel workbook. Then Bet assistant stopped refreshing and wouldnt start even when I shut it down. I had to reboot my computer :P and start all over. I wonder if that many pages open will frezee the software.I had also open Mozilla. My system is an AMD Dual Core with 4 GIG of RAM
I have run 22 pages open with no problems.

It should handle 28 pages easily so don't know what happened there I'm afraid. If you had to reboot it suggests something more than just a problem with Betting Assistant.

I had to reboot to see if I could get Bet Assistant working again. The whole system didn´t freeze. It was just BA that didnt want to work any more. I coul surf the net just fine. Also tried resetting my Broadband Modem, didnt do it  Did notice system usage was spiking to 95 100% Maybe run out of RAM memory   Will try to keep surfing to a bare minimum with running that many pages in BA in the future. Never had this kind of trouble with BA before. I real hassle opening 28 pages in 14 different races and linking them to 28 different Excel sheets to have it all come to a halt :( :( :( :( :(

I'm having problems with consistantly getting my bets triggered.

I seem to do better if i wait to the off and then place my bets.

I'd like to place them in the morning and not have to worry that the back

bets aren't being placed.

Lay field at 3 and place offset ticks to back back at 5.

I've got keep in play ticked.

Could you tell me the precise settings I need to play this strategy?

I could be missing something.

I think we need to establish why they aren't being placed. Did you check the transaction log as suggested? You can also send a copy of the diagnostic log to admin@gruss-software.co.uk. It is named BA_Diagnostic.txt and is in the folder c:\temp\Betting Assistant Logs. If you send this log and tell us the bet ref for a lay bet where the back bet was not placed we should be able to see the reason why. You need to send the log after the next time this problem happens and before the next time you re-start the application.

Thanks Gary and Mark. E-mail received.

My error.

I was changing markets before the offset bet had been triggered. The page

has to be open to complete the transaction.

Cheers.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
