Can anyone help with formula for a staking plan?

Postby Ian1506 » Sat Aug 27, 2011 10:59 am

Hi folks. I am toying with place betting and with my current selections, backtesting shows a strike rate of 76% with a slight ROI. I have run the same bets using the following staking plan which shows a better return.
Base bet is one unit. After a loss increase by one unit. After a win reduce by one unit. Because the strike rate is so high I feel there is minimal risk as my initial stake is quite low.
I have worked out the basic formula but am stuck with how to tell BA to update the stake when I have a bettable race. (I dont bet each race in the market). Any help would be gratefully accepted.
Cheers Ian

Are you really sure your staking plan will end up better in the long run ? For the last two years in using The Staking Machine with numerous systems, I've never come across a system which, in the long run, has done any better than using level stakes. Just a question.

The only thing i find better then level stakes if you are on a winning system is percentage of bank re-calculated on start of day amount.

Thanks for the replies.
Doris_Day. I'm not sure how it will end up in the long run. I am pretty sure that in the short term it will provide some benefit but I'm still pretty new to this. I'm working on the assumption from everything I've read about staking plans that it will assist a system which can turn a profit using level stakes.
I'd still like to give it a go but am quite stuck on the formula.

Shaun. Thanks for your comment

If you have enough data give The Staking Machine a try to see what possible advantage you'll be able to get. As far as the coding is concerned you should probably PM 'osknows' as he seems on top of most of this kind of routine. At the moment I've just started learning to code but it'll be a while before I can do anything worthwhile :)

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
