Auto triggered bet with greening

Postby Kryten » Sat Jul 02, 2011 3:41 pm

Hi guys,

Does anyone know of a way of including the facility to do the following using the existing Excel sheet for Beting Assistant.

When a bet is triggered:

1 - Include an offset with auto greening
2 - Include a stoploss (preferably trailing)
3 - Keep in play

Cheers.

Look at the user guide which you can view from the help menu. You can read about "trigger modifiers" which can be used to specify tick offset and stop loss settings.

eg. BACK-TL5-SL5-SL-IP
The above trigger will place a lay bet at 5 ticks lower than the matched back odds using a stake which will produce a level profit. The stop loss is set at 5 ticks above the matched back odds, is sliding and will produce a level loss. The bets will also be kept in play.

Excellent, thanks for the help.

One other question:

Is it possible to set a trigger so that a bet is only placed once the market goes in play?

You need to refer to cells E2 and F2 in the trigger formula.

eg.
Code: Select all
=if(And(E2="In Play",F2<>"Suspended"),"BACK-TL5-SL5-SL-IP","")

Thanks Gary. I actually worked that one out almost immediately after posting the question - teach me to use my own brain first next time.

Thanks for the help anyway.

Limit Number of bets placed

Postby Kryten » Fri Jul 15, 2011 9:55 pm

When using excel to trigger bets, is there a way to limit the bets placed.

Specifically, I want to fire a bet at a predetermined price on whichever horse reaches that price first but once one bet is fired into the market I don't want anymore bets to be triggered in that race.
Once the race has finished and the next race loads the sheet would need to reset.

I can probably do this using flags or macros, but I was wondering if there was some kind of global command available or maybe when certain cells have text in them if it would prevent further bets until they are cleared.

=if(SUM(V5:V50)>0,1,"")

Put this in say V3 as soon as a bet is matched it would place a ! in V3 as a flag.

If you wanted to just check when a bet is sent in to the market first but not matched try this.
=if(COUNTA(T5:T50)>0,1,"")
place in T3

Hi Shaun,

Thanks for the reply.

So, are you saying that if "Avg matched odds" column has any kind of text in it then it prevents further bets being placed against that runner. So for example if V5 = 1 then the runner in A5 would have no more bets placed on it until the next race is loaded which refreshes and resets the sheet?

Those 2 formulas are just flags, the first one will activate when the first bet is matched the second flag would activate as soon as a bet is sent, they don't need to be used together the option of which one to use is yours.

In the trigger cell you might have =if(v3=1,"",TRIGGER)
the trigger would be what ever trigger you want to use, if you are unsure do some searches on here or download some examples.

Hi Shaun,

I already have a trigger that works based on the sum of other flags I have created. Triggering a bet is not a problem, I know exactly how to do that.

What I am asking is if there is a way to prevent any further bets being placed into the market once the first one has been matched.

For example a certain other program (which I will not name here as it is obviously a competitor to Gruss) works like this:

When a bet is placed into the market using excel it puts the word "PLACED" into the bet status cell for that horse (or whatever) on the work sheet. This then means that until that cell is cleared of the word placed (or any other text you care to put into it) no more bets can be placed on that horse.

So, using a triggered macro which monitors these cells, it is possible to populate all other status cells with the same text once the first bet has been triggered. This has the effect of stopping all further bets until the cells are cleared again.

Hope that makes a bit more sense now.

That is what the T column is for when a bet is placed it would populate with a betref and no other bets can be placed on that selection until it is cleared but if other runners meet the criteria they could have a bet placed so use the formula =if(COUNTA(T5:T50)>0,1,"") to set a flag to stop any more bets when any cell in the range is populated.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
