Stop loss

Postby GaryRussell » Sat Apr 24, 2010 5:13 pm

Is anyone experiencing problems with stop loss failing to fire at all? It's possible that it won't get matched, but I am not aware of any bugs causing the stop loss not to be placed at all. I have seen reports on another forum, but as far as I know they have not contacted us directly. It's a bit worrying as they say it cannot be trusted.

Just when I thought there weren't any more stop loss bugs  They have contacted me and I believe I have found the problem.

There was a bug affecting combined tick offset and stop loss where ticket offset bet is initially partially matched. If the final offset bet cannot be placed because the unmatched portion was cancelled or the stake is below £0.01 then it prevented the stop loss from working. This was due to it waiting for an offset bet to be placed that was never going to happen.

I have fixed this in versions 1.1.0.65i and 1.1.0.66p

Was that a recent bug Gary? Just asking as I seem to have had a few stop losses not fired this week, or could be just a bad week for me lol.

No, it's been there for ages, but only just came to light.

If you think it hasn't fired a stop loss when it should then please let me know at the time and send the file named "BA_Diagnostic.txt" in "C:\temp\Betting Assistant Logs" to admin@gruss-software.co.uk. I only managed to discover this bug because the user sent me the log.

Also make sure you are using the latest Beta (version 1.1.0.66p) which logs additional information about stop loss bets.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
