using the standard Place_Bets spreadsheet included.....

Postby mcscom » Mon Nov 21, 2011 3:25 pm

Hi All

Please can anyone tell me if i can use the standard Place_bets spreadsheet included with the software to lay horse by Race Card No instead of typing in each horse name.
I lay up to 30 horses a day and it takes a long time to type in all the names and occasionally i will get the odd one spelt wrong, Basically i am after a easier way to do it.

NO because it scrolls through the races and matches your runners with the runners in the list, if you just used numbers it would place all the bets on the first race, this would be for Australia in the UK i don't even think it shows numbers.

Best way would be to find a site that shows the runners names in a format you can use and then copy the runners names to the sheet as text with no formatting.

Now i am not sure if UK runners use "," in some horses names as betfair removes this from the official list that is shown on the race card but you can add this formula to get around this.

On the "Selections" Tab in cell A2 paste this formula =IF(F2="","",SUBSTITUTE(F2,"'",""))

and copy down the column, then in F2 you can paste your selection as text.

Like Shaun says even though you can export the saddle number to excel it'd just lay all numbers for each race. To get round that you'd have to amend the sheet to type in the race time details so wouldn't save time at the end of the day.

Alrodopial did a cool sheet here http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4733 that looped thru the markets and go the runner details. Depending on how knowledgeable you are with excel/vba you could always merge them and set it so you only needed to do a tick box next to the horse and enter your odds.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
