This match was abandoned in the 77th minute due to foggy weather conditions with the score at 0-0. It has been confirmed that the remainder of this match will commence at 16:00 GMT today.

In line with our rules and regulations all bets will stand and will be settled at the conclusion of the event. Unfortunately we do not have a feed available to offer the remainder in-play therefore markets will remain suspended.

Only just discovered the above posted more than 11 hours after the abandonment - hardly great communication from Betfair !!

I backed the draw on the understanding this was an in-play match now they have changed the conditions under which the bet was initially placed.

Because of these changes I would now like to have my bet cancelled. What are my chances of this happening ?

Any advice appreciated as always.

Thanks 8)

No chance. Look on the bright side though you've backed the draw and it's 0-0 with only 13 minutes to play you're obviously in a value situation. I guess you could always look to see if any other bookies are offering a market and back both teams to cancel it out.

Betdaq are doing a market you can always close out over there, currently 2's to lay for the draw which is bad odds but if you want out, might be closer to true odds nearer the off

Thanks Captain you are a star.

Just got off the phone to Betfair and they said no way could I cancel and they were not putting up a market pre play or in play so I will take a look at the link you sent especially as I had looked earlier without finding a reopened market.

Cheers for your help 8)

No problem, I think Betfair have probably back tracked and reopened the market because either they noticed Betdaq had a market or due to the amounts of complaints they've had.

They've even changed the forum post they originally put up to say they've put up a market so people can close out.

Thanks for the further information re the amended Betfair post.

"however we will re-open markets to enable positions to be traded until the scheduled kick off time."

The above was exactly the point I was making and should be the very least you could expect to happen in those circumstances.

I couldn't monitor the betting up to 4pm on the draw so I chickened out and settled for a small loss (I have been caught out to many times with last minute goals that usually go against me).

Just another day in the life of a non gambler :)

Just discovered this in my emal. So at least Betfair where trying to be responsive...

Dear Raymond,

Thank you for your call.
Moments after I spoke to you there was an update regarding this fixture. Due to increasing requests to re-open the market and attention shown on the forum, we have re-opened this market for trading. It will be open until play resumes at 4pm, so you will have the opportunity to trade your bets. Please accept my apologies.
Kind regards,
Robert Langford

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
