VPS - daily.co.uk

Postby Graham » Sat Jun 18, 2011 3:05 pm

I am looking for a new virtual server, daily.co.uk seems very good value. Has anybody used these guys, and if so, any good or bad experiences?

cant comment on daily, I've used tagadab (pricey though) but rock solid (down twice in 18 months) recently tried thrustvps with being cheaper (down 15 times this month)

I'd be glad to hear about daily though - looks a good solution in between tagadab & thrust prices

I was using Tagadab until BF moved their servers to Ireland when my actual refresh times were all over the place so I cancelled. I would like to find an alternative.

Are you sure that your problems with tagadab weren't caused by the betfair issues in february and march detailed here?

I think that these issues were about the same time as betfair moved the servers.

If someone knows, please give a suggestion for an Ireland based vps provider
I made a research, but I can't seem to find anything worth to mention. I have sent 2-3 mails in such companies asking for specific specs and never got an answer :o

The price difference compared to a UK provider with the same specs is also much expensive..

Hi

I've found a few websites that seem to offer VPS solutions with their datacentres based in Ireland. I havent tried any of them so cant comment on their services. However, if you are interested, the links are:

I looked briefly at vps in Ireland when BF moved there servers there but didn't come up with much. Signed up for a year with daily now though. Thanks for putting that up, if anybody uses any of these can they please post how they perform?

Thanks

Hi Graham,

Was just browsing the forum and noticed you say you have a VPS with Daily.

I currently work for Daily.co.uk and was wondering what you experiences were so far?

i am trying http://www.letshost.ie/vps/packages these days and i can say that, the internet connection is slow and though they are based in ireland, ping times are worst than an average uk vps company...

they are expensive as mentioned before, especially with the kind of service they provide.

Have to admit that in general they are above the average in the help section (customer service) and very fast...

Hi

You may be interested in the following link. Its a monitoring service for ISP/VPS/Hosting providers, and shows their internet speed performance.

Im not sure if there are any irish based companies in the list though. It may be a case of finding one amongst all the different providers.

I hope the link is of some use.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
