Betdaq Assistant tonight

Postby Dai_Young » Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:34 pm

Have had big problems with the Betdaq Assistant this evening not reporting the profit/loss correctly. Luckily I've profited but it could have been quite bad.

Problems with the betdaq API?

Not that I am aware of. The P&L is calculated from the matched bets so if it happens in future could you send screenshots showing the matched bets and the P&L so we can compare. If there were API problems then the connection indicator would turn red, did you notice if this happened?

I didn't notice it turn red Gary, although I wasn't watching it like a hawk.

Difficulties started at about 5.30 UK time. I switched off all my bots after the third race at Wolverhampton. Problems were not isolated to one computer or just to horse race markets. The profit/loss column was zeroed and no matched bets were showing either in BA or in the relevant excel sheets. These were bots that I have run for weeks without encountering problems.

I'll load up as usual tomorrow and let you know if anything similar occurs.

I didn't realise you were talking about Betting Assistant for Betdaq. Betdaq Assistant is a different application which does not have Excel integration. Betting Assistant doesn't have the indicator I mentioned.

If this if it happens again you can send the file named BA_Diagnostic.txt in "c:\temp\Betting Assistant for Betdaq Logs" to admin@gruss-software.co.uk

Were you using only one instance of BA at the time and only using BA with that specific account at the time? Betdaq throttle requests at their end for each specific account. If you were using more than one instance on the same account or using another API application for the same account at the same time then you will encounter problems as API calls start getting rejected.

Also are you using version 1.0.5.6 Beta?

Yes, 1.0.5.6 Beta.

I was running two instances of BA on different computers using the same account. Probably that caused the problems then, although I've been running it like that for some time without difficulties.

Thanks for your help Gary.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
