Terrible API response today and yesterday

Postby barakg » Fri May 28, 2010 11:46 am

Does anyone else experienced it? Even to load markets to the quick pick list takes ages, not to mention the price update thats getting stuck constantly. Is it just me???

If I am not mistaken I have also seen your post about poor response times on a competitor's forum so it sounds like an ISP problem rather than a problem with Betting Assistant. I think you are an international user so it may be a problem with a slow response from the UK server due to a problem with your ISP.

Ok, thanks.

Since there are no replies from anyone else about it, you probably right.

I have been having below average responses for a couple of days however today was terrible, regularly going over 1000ms rather than the usual 100-200ms and occasionally 'sticking' for a few minutes.

Interested to hear whether anyone else has had this problem or whether it is a problem at my end - when the api is poor my bot gets slaughtered. [Also I am using a tagadab VPS so would be interested to hear if anyone else is using the same]

As others will know, I'm pretty quick to post when the site is working poorly but I think that its been holding up well recently.
Yesterday (Friday 4th) things wre OK generally and today, although its been struggling with some races, bearing in mind its Derby Day, I'm not unimpressed with how well its holding up.
That goes for my home Virgin ISP and my multiplexed remote servers.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
