Logging off whilst unmatched orders remain.

Postby Damon » Tue Jun 01, 2010 12:39 am

Just a quickie -- if I want to join the bid on a particular spread for a few days (waiting for a large lay to get matched), with a one-tick offset request, do I need to keep my PC logged on, or is it safe to simply put it into 'standby' mode? Basically, I'm concerned as to whether I will lose my place in the queue if I don't leave the PC running as normal.

Will my orders submitted via BA still be executed if the market in question is left open, but my PC is in standby mode?

The original bet would keep its position in the queue anyway. But for the
offset it's necessary that the PC keeps running.

Yes, the PC must be kept running and Betting Assistant must also be left open on the market for it to be able to monitor the bet being matched and therefore place the offset bet.

Cheers guys.

Is there any way I can stop my laptop from going into hibernation/standby mode automatically? It seems to do so after about 30 minutes of inactivity, which is obviously a problem when I retire for the evening! The laptop doesn't actually shut down and when I click on the screen, everything appears as it was before the hibernation...

You need to change your power saving settings. You can do this through control panel or if you have an icon in your system tray showing remaining battery charge then you may be able to access the setttings by right clicking on this icon.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
